The La Huerta Story

In 1957, our founder, José Arteaga Campos, left Mexico City for his father’s hometown Aguascalientes to try his hand at farming. With his wife and four kids in tow, he rented a ranch and purchased two pairs of mules. Although he had a lot to learn about farming, he never waivered from his mission to do everything the best way possible. In 1970 La Huerta started exporting fresh vegetables in refrigerated trucks to the USA, developing the business to the point of reaching 8,000 tons of frozen vegetable exports in 1976. Three years later La Huerta started to conquer the national Mexican market with its main brand “La Huerta”.
Today after five decades of hard work La Huerta is still a one hundred percent family owned company and the indisputable market leader in Mexico, exporting our high quality products to clients in North & South America, Asia, Europe, and Australia.

Our Farm

We think like farmers, because we are farmers

Our farm is more than just fields of crops—it’s our life’s passion and our home. The farm has been in our family for over five decades, with three generations of farmers keeping a watchful eye over every inch, every day. Along the way we’ve grown to 1,500 acres, but we still remain focused on doing things the best possible way.
Our commitment to sustainable farming and earth-friendly practices also continues to grow. Not only do these practices maximize the health benefits of the foods, it’s simply the right thing to do. Our fields are constantly monitored to ensure they maintain the proper amount of water. When conditions need adjusting, our advanced drip irrigation system can precisely deliver water to the field in need.

To protect the soil and keep it rich in nutrients, we rotate crops and hand inspect the fields daily to make sure they are free of foreign matter. Taking things a step further, we compost our organic waste to ensure the soil’s natural nutrients are maintained and replenished. These fields are the start to every delicious fruit and vegetable we cultivate. It’s no wonder we take soil so seriously.
Our entire product line is all-natural and our focus on organic offerings continues to grow. Whether it’s our use of biological pest control, organic composting or our drip irrigation technology, we are always thinking of new ways to make our food even healthier and ensure our farm is here for many generations of farmers to come.
